I have bought several of these, using them at a preschool and now for a fifth grade class. You can see the worms up close. WORMS LIKE THE DARK. If you leave the clear sides open to light, the worms burrow to the inside to hide. You must use the black light shields. When you are ready to view the worms, slide the shields out and the worms are right there! They will slither away within about ten minutes, needing a few hours of darkness to return to the sides. This set comes with an experiment book full of good ideas and a diagram of a worm's anatomy. It's the best way I have found to study worms.
